Energy Consultancy
Red Road Engineers offer a complete, cost effective Energy Assessment for your proposed new dwelling or alterations and additions. We are fully qualified Energy Assessors, accredited with the Australian Building Sustainability Association (ABSA).
For NSW clients, we offer a complete assessment including a simulation through an approved CSIRO Energy modelling program, producing a Thermal Comfort Certificate and the required BASIX certificate. |
What is a Thermal Comfort Certificate?
A Thermal Comfort Certificate is produced after a detailed simulation of your proposed dwelling is completed through a CSIRO developed software tool. The simulation through this program allows clients the option of a wider range of building materials, control over the types of insulation options, wider selection of window options and overall a more comfortable, energy efficient, affordable home to live in. What is NatHERS? The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) is a Government initiative designed to rate the energy efficiency of a home based on its design. The aim is to make Australian homes more comfortable for the occupants while helping them to save money and energy through smarter energy choices at the construction stage. What is BASIX? BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) is the system for compliance in NSW to assist home builders to achieve a more comfortable, energy efficient home and save money on energy bills. The aim of BASIX is to achieve a 40% reduction in water consumption and a greenhouse reduction of up to 25%, delivering financial savings for the home owner and environmental benefits for future generations. Who needs a BASIX Certificate? Anyone constructing a new dwelling or making alterations or additions costing $50,000 or more to an existing dwelling in NSW needs a BASIX certificate. |
